Manchester City have announced the 32 million pound signing of Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia, this morning and are now set to push ahead with the move for De Bruyne.

The Belgian enjoyed a sensational campaign with Wolfsburg last season and has attracted a lot of interest from Europe.

Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini remains an admirer of the former Chelsea midfielder and has been tracking him all summer.

Initially Wolfsburg refused to sell their prized asset, but according to Mirror, the German club are now ready to sell if their asking price of 57 million pounds is met.

Today, Kicker has reported that De Bruyne has made his mind up and will join Manchester City within the next 48 hours.

Kicker state that the Belgian is unhappy with the lack of ambition shown by Wolfsburg and that the board have not strengthened the team enough for a title challenge.

Manchester City have already spent 94 million pounds this summer and the De Bruyne transfer could take the figure past the 150 million pound mark.

City’s spending this summer shows their hunger to win over their Premier League crown, after a disappointing title defense last season.

Manchester City have started the season well with two wins out of two, including a 3-0 demolition of Chelsea at the Etihad last week.
