Manchester City set to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo; Joe Hart expected to leave

Dec 20, 2024 3:50 AM

Manchester City and Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo for a £17 million transfer fee, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The 33-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Man City and is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Premier League giants.

Pep Guardiola dropped Man City’s long-serving first choice goalkeeper Joe Hart for their Premier League’s opening fixture against Sunderland as Argentine Willy Callabero was handed the start instead in a 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

A knee injury to Marc-André ter Stegen had reportedly put Bravo’s proposed move to Man City on the verge of collapse but the German goalkeeper has now been ruled out for just three weeks, meaning he could recover for La Liga’s third game week.

But Bravo, who has been an integral part of Barcelona’s title winning side for the last two campaigns, is now expected to arrive in England this week once the Spanish giants recruit replacement for the Chilean International.

The former Real Sociedad star joined Barcelona in 2014 and has since made 69 league appearances for the Spanish giants, failing to appear in just seven La Liga games in two seasons.

Meanwhile, Joe Hart is now expected to leave Man City for another Premier League side with Everton thought to be in pole position to sign the English goalkeeper.

The Toffees have already registered interest to sign the 28-year-old, who has made over 260 league appearances for Man City since his move from Shrewsbury Town in 2006.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed this week that Hart is unhappy after being left out of the side on Saturday and said: “I’m pretty sure he is not happy,” said Guardiola. “All the players who don’t play aren’t sacked, they’re absent. Of course I would not be happy if absent, but now it is ‘try again’.

“I am sorry, I have to decide (on the team). We have 28 players. They have to convince me on the pitch.”
