Manchester City’s new £28m signing Wilfried Bony is unlikely to make the difference in rescuing the Premier League title race back in their favour against leaders Chelsea.

The Blues are seven points ahead of the champions having led the title race for much of the campaign.

City, meanwhile, have been patchy as they look to win back to back league titles for the first time. The signing of Bony was clearly an attempt to boost the side’s scoring ability in the event that Sergio Aguero is injured once again.

The Argentine, who was in top form before picking up the injury in December against Everton, is slowly getting back to his best. But since his absence the Etihad outfit have caught up with the Blues in the title race before their deficiencies reared their head again resulting in them once again lagging behind.

Aguero has said he is happy to have Bony alongside him in attack, while the Ivorian has said that he is equally looking forward to the challenge of winning the title for City.

But with just 13 games to go and City continuing to look vulnerable at the back, including the usually imperious Vincent Kompany, it is a big ask or them to overturn a Chelsea side who look far more solid and, if anything, look more likely of extending their lead at the top rather than having it reduced.
