Earlier this month, we had reported that Arsenal are lining up a move for Hoffenheim’s Brazilian play maker Roberto Firmino to replace Santi Cazorla in the upcoming summer transfer window.
However as per reports from Italian media outlet Calciomercato who have quoted German newspaper Sports Bild, Bayern Munich and Monaco are willing to pay €25m for the services of the 23 year old.
The recent developments will come as a body blow for both Arsenal as well as Manchester United who have been linked with the player. In fact Gunners’ chief scout Steve Rowley has been keeping tabs on the player who has scored 5 goals and grabbed 7 assists in 24 appearances for the Bundesliga side this term.
In fact Arsenal have the have to option to cash in on Santi Cazorla who has been targeted by Atletico Madrid. the Spaniardv will have only 12 months in his contract come this summer and Arsene Wenger could sell the 30 year old. Moreover, Wenger will have to think on the future as his policy has always been to offer one year extensions to players above 30.
But now that Bayern and Monaco have joined the race, Arsenal will have to compete both the European heavyweights to sign the player. A transfer fee of £23m was quoted.
Earlier Daily Express had quoted Hoffenheim coach Markus Gisdol that any potential suitors will ahev to pay the desired transfer fees.
He was quoted saying, “In general, the transfer fees that are being paid are mental. Events on the transfer market decide asking prices, though. And when you have a great player, you have to aim high and go for the fee that the market dictates.”
