Manchester United will play a pre-season game in Bangkok, Thailand as a part of their 2013 Tour programme, the club has announced.
Manchester United will visit Thailand for the first time in 12 years
The match will be played on the 13th July at the Rajamangala Stadium where the Red Devils will face Singha All Star XI.
The entire tour is sponsored by AON, while the match is sponsored by Singha, the official beer partner of Manchester United. The match has been conducted to celebrate the Thai brewer’s 80th anniversary and the winner of this match will be the first time winner of the Singha 80th Anniversary Cup.
Manchester United Chief Executive, David Gill, who will step down from his position next summer, said on the club’s official website:
“Our visit to Thailand in July plays an important role in the team’s pre-season preparations for the season ahead.
“It also enables the club to engage with some of its global fans and commercial partners.
“There are over 19.5 million Manchester United followers in Thailand and the club has been lucky enough to visit on a number of occasions.”
United first visited Thailand in 1975 and it will be their fifth visit to the Far East country, though first time in last 12 years.
Previously, the club had announced to play pre-season friendly match against the Australian A-League All Stars as part of Tour 2013. United will train in Sydney for six days and the match will be played on 20 July at the Sydney ANZ Stadium.
United will then travel to Asia to tour cities like Yokohama, Osaka and Hong Kong and the matches will be played on 23rd, 26th and 29th July respectively.
