Liverpool are desperate to land Southampton’s Adam Lallana as quickly as possible as the Anfield side fear that Manchester United might play spoilsport and land the 26 year old in demand winger just at the last minute.
We had earlier reported that Liverpool have tabled a figure close to £20m for Lallana but it is believed that Southampton are holding out for £5m more for their prized asset.
The winger has had a terrific season for the south coast club scoring 9 goals and grabbing 6 assists in 38 appearances this season, his performances being rewarded with a place on England’s flight for the World Cup in Brazil.
Brendan Rogers is believed to be a huge admirer of Lallana who has shown immense maturity and striking versatility as he can slot on wither wings and can also play as a second striker, just off the number nine up front. Liverpool have been tactically very flexible this season and it would be wise to say that Lallana would fit in ceaselessly in the Anfield side.
The Merseyside club are also aware of the potential deals that have failed in the past with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Willian being the prime examples. With United already tabling a massive £27m for Luke Shaw, Liverpool are concerned that the Red Devils might attempt a double raid at the very last last minute.
