According to today’s reports from Football Italia, Manchester United are lining up a bid for Lazio winger Felipe Anderson in the upcoming summer transfer window. The report cites Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport which claims that United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to submit a bid of €50m for the 22-year-old.
Anderson has been one of the stand out Serie A stars this term and has attracted the likes of Paris St Germain, Atletico Madrid as well as Chelsea as per the reports. Lazio though are desperate to hold on to the player who has scored 11 goals and grabbed 7 assists in 30 appearances this campaign. The club President Claudio Lotito has also reportedly outlined a plan to keep the winger at the Stadio Olimpico.
Lazio are on the verge of securing a Champions League play off berth for next season and should they qualify for Europe’s elite club competition, they will have enough revenues which would help them shield Anderson from big offers.
However, it will be interesting to see if the player himself will let go a chance to play for one of the biggest clubs across Europe. Negotiations are always tough against Italian teams but should United splash the cash, Lazio will find it hard to keep hold of their prized asset.
