Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Mourinho, Mauro Icardi, Edinson Cavani

Nov 17, 2024 11:32 PM

By now, Jose Mourinho’s move to Manchester United should be as good as an unofficial confirmation, going by the media reports. Frankly, how many time we’ve come across reports like ‘deal-agreed’, or ‘gentleman’s agreement’ for Mourinho I have lost count.

The truth is, Mourinho is far from being the next Manchester United manager, but given the paucity of option elsewhere, the club may turn to the former Chelsea boss to take charge at Old Trafford. Better, wait and watch.

And you know what, Mourinho is equally prepared to wait until next season for the “right moment” to return to management.

This is what he said, when asked to comment on the on-going speculation surrounding his future, quotes courtesy of Sky Sports:

“I always feel that it’s better to wait, not to rush, better to be calm, to wait for the right moment, the right move. I feel that starting the next season with a new club and project is probably the best thing for me.”

“The reality is I have no job, and at the moment I’m happy not to have a job.

“I read so many different things. One day it says I go to China, another day it says I go to Italy, and people say I’m back to Inter Milan. I’m here – probably, you are saying I will go to the Singapore national team.

“It’s quite a funny career. I am the English champion, and I still have no job.”

Manchester United transfer news

Italian media are absolutely convinced that Mourinho will take over at Manchester United in the summer. He has already started scouting players that he wants to bring with him to Old Trafford.

Free from managerial pressure, Mourinho spend time these says watching football games all around the world. He recently paid a visit to Italy, where he watched his old club Inter Milan in action against Sampdoria.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Mourinho was paying a close attention to Inter duo Mauro Icardi and Miranda.

Icardi recently stated that he is not looking for a move elsewhere, as he is focussed on continuing with Inter, but Italian media believe that the Nerazzurri would find it hard to resist, should United come up with a bid of around €40m for the Argentine.

Latest on Cavani

The Uruguayan is expected to leave PSG next summer, and Premier League is thought to be his preferred destination. Cavani, the £35m rated striker, has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months, while several Italian clubs are also seemingly interested in signing him.

Cavani seems pretty relaxed on his future and has cooled talk of a possible move away from the Parc des Princes.

“I respect my club, like all those I played until the last day,” Cavani told Mexican television channel TDN.

“I wear the shirt of this club, I will defend it as if I had been supporting the club all my life.

“The only thing I can say is that, beyond the ups and downs that I had since I was there, of all the debates that had on me, I have always tried to respect the team, the club and the jersey at the time of entering the field.

“I will try to continue like this, to give the best football depends on many things, so you never know… I hope things continue like this as long as possible.”
