Manchester United vs Swansea: 5 Key Stats

Nov 18, 2024 3:37 PM

Manchester United will take on Swansea City in the Match Day 21 of Premier League at the Old Trafford, where manager David Moyes will be looking to avoid yet another victory at the home ground.

Swansea City knocked the Red Devils out of the FA Cup competition few days back and Michael Laudrup will be hoping to inflict further damages on Saturday. Here are five interesting stats ahead of the match.

a) Manchester United, the defending champions have already lost six games in the opening 20 matches. No English team has won the title from the same position, since Ipswich won in 1961-62.

United are 11 points behind the league leaders at the moment. Mathematically, they can still bounce back in the race and win the title. But realistically, it is very, very and very difficult.

b) The major concern is United’s home record. They have lost four of their last six home games in all competitions. However, they’ve a better record against middle third oppositions, having won 15 of their last 20 home matches.

c) They can take solace from the fact that Swansea City have never beaten United in the league since 1982 and have failed to beat them in any of their previous five Premier League matches.

d) Swansea like Man Utd are one of only four sides who have won more matches away than at home. The Swans however, have failed to win in one of their last seven away league games. So, it is basically an encounter between home and away strugglers in the league.

e) Defence is a major worry for the Red Devils. They have conceded 10 goals at home already and might face problems at the back, if in-form defender Jonny Evans misses out with back injury.
