Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez to be involved in swap deal for Guarin?

Nov 17, 2024 5:27 PM

According to reports in Italy, Inter Milan are keen to offload Fredy Guarin to Manchester United but in return want Red Devils’ striker Javier Hernandez.

Back in December, The Daily Telegraph writer Mark Ogden reported that Inter Milan were planning to exploit Manchester United’s interest in midfielder Fredy Guarin, by pursuing a potential move for striker Hernandez.

Guarin was also a target of Chelsea in the January transfer window, but Jose Mourinho claimed that he is not interested in the midfielder.

In the last few days, reports emerged that Guarin could be heading towards Juventus in a swap deal for striker Mirko Vucinic. Just when it looked all set for a potential transfer, Inter called off the deal. Club president Erick Thohir revealed that a section of Inter fans were opposed to the move and demonstrated outside the club’s headquarters yesterday.

Tuttosport now reports that Inter have shifted their attention to Manchester United striker Hernandez, who has somehow dropped down the pecking orders at the club.

The Mexican striker has been mainly used a sub this season (The 25-year-old striker has only made 4 league starts and has scored two goals) though it remains to be seen whether Hernandez prefers a move elsewhere. At the moment, it seems like he is happy to take the bit-part role at Manchester United.

Also, Manchester United probably won’t be pursuing any further interest in Guarin, should they succeed in landing Juan Mata from Chelsea.
