Ligue 1 side Monaco are reportedly targeting Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez to provide cover for injured Radamel Falcao in the principality.

Hernandez has been linked with a move from Old Trafford this month, after reportedly becoming frustrated with the lack of playing time afforded to him under David Moyes at the club.

A crippling injury to super-striker Radamel Falcao has put Monaco in a tricky situation, as the Colombian has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, and is a doubt for the World Cup Finals this summer.

The French club are now looking closely at Hernandez, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, and are considering a January bid for the 25-year-old, who is said to be concerned that his lack of club appearances could damage his chances of playing a part in Mexico’s World Cup adventure.

United are said to want close to £15m for the striker, who has over two years left to run on his current contract.

Hernandez, who signed for United from Mexican side Guadalajara in 2010, has scored over 50 goals for the club during his four stay, but has only played the full 90 minutes once in the Premier League this season.
