Moses should follow Sturridge and permanently leave Chelsea for Liverpool

Moses should follow Sturridge and permanently leave Chelsea for Liverpool

Dec 27, 2024 3:09 PM

Victor Moses impressed in his debut match for Liverpool against Swansea. Not because he bagged a goal, which obviously is a plus point, but his movement throughout the match was terrific.

MosesMoses

He was willing to take on the full-back, something which Stewart Downing failed to do in his Liverpool career, was involved in brilliant link-up play with Coutinho and Sturridge and overall it was a solid performance.

The 22-year-old joined Liverpool on a season long loan from Chelsea. If he performs well, which is expected of him, Liverpool probably would try to sign him on a permanent basis, but at the same time, Moses should not even consider going back to Chelsea.

His future is bleak at the London club

That’s the first and foremost thing. He would not have been to Liverpool at the first place, had he featured in Jose Mourinho’s plans at all. His case is totally different from that of Romelu Lukaku, who has been sent on loan too. While Lukaku is seen as a bright prospect for the London club and the Belgian would add firepower to the strike department, Moses unfortunately cannot compete with the likes of Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Willian et al for the attacking midfield positions.

Chelsea have the best collection of attacking midfields in the entire world probably and Moses, despite all his potential doesn’t belong to that glamour list. The sooner he understands that, better for his career.

No Guarantee of first team even if he delivers

Frankly, there is no guarantee that even if he delivers at Liverpool, he will be drafted straight away into Chelsea squad next season. If that happens to him, it could damage his morale completely.

Likewise, he can be a star at Liverpool

At Liverpool, under the caring eye of Brendan Rodgers, he will feel the trusting warmth of the manager. His potential will be valued here and most importantly he will be loved by the fans, should he deliver.

And Regular first team opportunities

Moses will get enough first team chances at Liverpool than he got at Chelsea. The reason is simple. Liverpool do not have avalanche of wingers in the squad and therefore Moses could become an integral part of team. At his age, getting regular games is all he should be thinking about.

Sturridge – the burning example

Moses should look no further than his own team-mate Daniel Sturridge and follow his success story. He was dumped out of his parent club and apart from Liverpool no one was willing to take a gamble on him. He got a good platform here and rest is all there for us to see. He has been a revelation at Anfield.
