Well, well, well. This is now getting now interesting. Rather very interesting.
Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard commented after the Blues’ semi-final exit against Atletico Madrid that Chelsea aren’t meant to play possession based football, rather they’re more suited for counter attacking football.
It created all sorts of furore in the media and with Hazard’s statements gave different connotations, with RMC claiming the Belgian insisted Mourinho is one of the worst managers he has known.
We were expecting a sharp response from Mourinho. The Portuguese in his press conference blamed Hazard for being selfish and criticised him for making the life of left-back hellish.
Mourinho pointed out Hazard’s mistake for Atletico’s first goal that changed the complexion of the game.
“If you see Atletico’s first goal, you can completely understand where the mistake was and why we conceded that goal,” he said.
He further adds that while other attacking midfielders in the team, like Willian and Schurrle does a lot of defensive job, Hazard is mentally not prepared to protect his left-back.
He adds: “When the comments come from a player like Eden, it’s normal. He’s not the kind of player ready to sacrifice himself 100 per cent for the team and his mates.”
