Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has agreed to take over at Manchester United.
According to reports from the English media, the Old Trafford giants were always keen on the Portuguese manager but Woodward got in touch with Mourinho’s agent last week in order to seek assurances.
It is understood that the Old Trafford hierarchy has run out of patience now and after Manchester United’s defeat against Midtjylland, they are ready to get rid of Van Gaal and appoint Mourinho.
The report states that Woodward got in touch with Jorge Mendes on Thursday in order to seek assurances that Mourinho will take over at Old Trafford once the Dutchman is relieved of his duties.
Apparently Mourinho has a gentleman’s agreement to become the next Manchester United manager.
The former Chelsea manager has succeeded everywhere in the world and would be a major coup for Manchester United. The Premier League giants might not qualify for next season’s Champions League and will need to have a big name in charge in order to attract the top players.
Mourinho will be the ideal man to guide Manchester United back to their former glories and that too in a short span of time.
