Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will sanction the departure of David Luiz in the summer to Barcelona, as the Portuguese wants to rebuild the squad to his own taste.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Chelsea boss is planning for a major developments at Stamford Bridge in the summer. Big name players are expected to arrive like Diego Costa and Chelsea will be looking to sell some of the players to balance the book, and of them could be David Luiz.
Mourinho doesn’t consider Luiz as an integral part of his plan and would give a green signal for his transfer, if any club meet €36m transfer fee, which Sport believe, Barcelona are happy to pay that amount.
Luiz was left frustrated with the way Chelsea suffered defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. He reflected on Chelsea’s season recently:
“It could be that we are heading for a shit season. We are a big club and we want to win trophies. The most important thing for me is the personalities.
We need to fight in many situations. But everyone speaks about results and you can say it is a shit season if you don’t have trophies in a season at a big club.”
Luiz recently commented on his own future as well, saying “God knows” about what will happen next season. Barcelona are looking to find a long term replacement for skipper Carles Puyol and targets Luiz to cover that role.
Should Chelsea sell such a dynamic defender to Barcelona
