Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato is believed to be closing in on a move to the Premier League champions Chelsea.
The 26-year-old forward has been linked with a move away from Corinthians since last summer and it appears that the former AC Milan striker might finally get his wish.
ESPN Brazil are reporting that the striker is set to join Chelsea and that his agent is in England to finalise his move to Stamford Bridge.
The report also states that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with the player and Pato will be earning around £33,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.
Earlier the player was offered a mega-money move to China, but Pato insists on playing in Europe and especially the Premier League.
New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has claimed that the Blues are lacking firepower up front and a move for Pato makes perfect sense.
The highly talented Brazilian is finally over his injury problems and has played regularly over the last two seasons.
Pato scored 26 goals last season and is looking more like his former self.
It is unlikely that Pato will cost Chelsea a lot of money. The player is keen to leave Corinthians and the club are actively seeking out a buyer and therefore, the price should be reasonable.
A move to Stamford Bridge makes perfect sense for all parties and this could be Pato’s final chance to make his mark in Europe and fulfill his potential.
