Paulo Dybala, the young Argentine attacker, is making waves. The 21-year-old has scored an impressive 13 goals this season in Serie A for Palermo, with his eye-catching dribbling and maturity beyond his years leaving him, along with Raheem Sterling, the ‘it’ youngster in Europe at the present.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the striker, along with Manchester United, but according to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Juventus lead the chase. The 40m chase.

Arsene Wenger is no stranger to big money signings, with Mesut Ozil and Alecis Sanchez arriving over the last two years for around £77m combined. And the wily old Frenchman does love a youngster he can mould.

But do the Gunners need reinforcements up top

According to stats from whoscored.com, Olivier Giroud must now be classed as one of the best and most influential strikers in the Premier League. And they’re right.

The French hitman is currently on a run of nine goals in his last nine games, helping Arsenal climb to second in the table, himself up to third in the top scorers list, and shrewd fantasy football managers get the jump on the unsuspecting with a shed-load of points.

Not only has the 28-year-old retained his ability to link-up play, allowing the likes of Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey to push forward in search of glory, he is now keeping up a staggering goal return, with only Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero boasting a better goals per game ratio across all competitions.

Danny Welbeck has slowly endeared himself to the Gunners faithful, despite a distinct lack of goals recently, with the aforementioned Sanchez perfectly able to be unleashed up top if needs be. Like a Chilean Carlos Tevez.

With Yaya Sanogo sure to return in the summer, it doesn’t leave much room for another striker at the Emirates, even for one as clearly talented as Paulo Dybala. Regardless of this point, it is pretty doubtful that Wenger, a man until very recently known for being perhaps a little too careful with his money, will splash big cash again this summer.

Gunners fans may have to hope for an injury free season of next rather than a big name striker. Oh, and a defender. And a defensive midfielder.
