Manchester City are on the verge of sealing a £28 million deal for the highly rated Fiorentina forward, Stevan Jovetic, reports the Daily Mail.

Manchester City have been locked in talks with Jovetic for some time now and it seems like a deal has finally been brokered for the 23-year-old.

La Viola wanted any potential buyer to pay out £28 million for the talisman striker, but it is understood that both the clubs have agreed a fee in the region of £23 million, with a further £5 million in bonus payments.

New boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to add a few quality forwards in the side and is eager to replenish the void left by Carlos Tevez, who joined Serie A champions Juventus in the summer.

The Montenegro international is one of the most exciting footballers in Europe at the moment and would enrich the quality the star-studded line-up already present at the Etihad. Though his best position is that of a classic no 10, Jovetic can also operate as a lone striker in the side.

Meanwhile, City are all set to wrap up the £21m signing of Sevilla striker, Alvaro Negredo after both clubs reached an agreement, according to Marca. The Spaniard is already believed to have agreed personal terms with the former League champions and is expected to complete his move within the next few days.

It was thought that City could miss out on Negredo after Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido had claimed that the chances of selling the player was very slim.

“Either they pay what we ask or the player stays with Sevilla for another three years,” said Del Nido while speaking to the reporters.

However, as per the latest developments, reported by El Desmarque and journalist David Jaca of Daily Mirror on Twitter, City are willing to pay  €25 million upfront and €3 million as variables, while the player will earn around £90,000 a week apparently.
