Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a return to Chelsea as an interim manager over the last few weeks.

The former Liverpool boss held a coaching position at Stamford Bridge during Mourinho’s first spell in charge of the Premier League champions and this time he could be the man to replace Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager is a huge fan favourite at Chelsea, but his side’s recent performances have put him under tremendous pressure.

Although the Blues have officially voiced their support towards Mourinho, it is believed that Roman Abramovich’s patience might be wearing thin.

The Russian billionaire wants Chelsea to qualify for the Champions League and will pull the trigger if he believes that Mourinho cannot deliver a top four finish.

After back to back defeats against Liverpool and Stoke City, the Blues are in a sticky situation and need to win most of their remaining games in order to surpass the 70 point mark usually needed to break into top four.

Rodgers has been tipped to succeed Mourinho as an interim manager for this season. Chelsea are keen to appoint Guardiola or Simeone in the summer.

Several fans spotted the former Liverpool manager in London today afternoon and this has fuelled rumours that he might be heading to one of the London clubs – Chelsea, Fulham or QPR.

Both QPR and Fulham are in need of a manager but it is unlikely that Rodgers will return to the Championship after making his name with the Merseyside giants.

So the question here is, will he return to Chelsea as a first team manager time will tell.
