Former Manchester City player and now football pundit Dietmar Hamann feels Manchester City are clear favourites to the win the Premier League.

Hamann believes that City will win back the title at a canter, just like Manchester United did last season. And he places his arguments based on the fact, how City have improved their squad while other contenders have failed to do so at the same time.

The former German star says Manchester United’s new signing Marouane Fellaini would improve the side but there is still dearth of quality on the central midfield zone. Likewise, he is not too assured with the attacking options, especially with the wingers.

Hamann is also not completely convinced with Chelsea as well. Under Jose Mourinho, the Blues have made an unbeaten start to the season, but according to the former Liverpool hero, the Blues might struggle on the defensive front, as to him, most of their defenders are over 30 and the squad needs young recruitment. The German might have been referring to the experienced trio of Terry, Cole and Ivanovic but it is unclear as why the former City midfielder chose to ignore that talented and young defensive trio of Luiz, Cahill and Azpilicueta. Perhaps a case of not rating them high enough, we will have to wait and see.

Further, he doesn’t consider Arsenal as title challengers as he harbours doubt whether one man, Mesut Ozil, can change their fortunes completely. Similarly, he tips Liverpool and Tottenham to challenge for the top four spot mainly and doesn’t see them having a shot at the title.

City have spent big this summer having signed five quality players, taking their spending spree close to £100 million. Though, they have already suffered one league defeat, away to Cardiff City, but Hamann believes, if the side gel quickly under Pellegrini, it should be City’s title to lose.
