QPR and Everton chase Yann M’Vila

QPR and Everton chase Yann M’Vila

Oct 5, 2024 10:38 PM

After securing the signature of French striker Loic Remy from Marseille, relegation struggler Queens Park Rangers are aiming to bring Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila to the West London club.

Remy was poised to join Newcastle United but the striker opted to move to Loftus road instead and Harry Redknapp is now trying to persuade the striker’s international team mate to follow the same path.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Redknapp has convinced the 22-year-old highly rated defensive midfielder to join the London club and the player is expected to complete a £7 million move in next few days.

Yann M’Vila who has earned 22 caps for France is serving a two-year ban from international duty after breaching disciplinary rules in November.

Redknapp was quoted in the press:

“He is a top, proper footballer. He can play. He controls the game, he can pass the ball, he is strong.

“He’s had a few problems off the field but he is only young.

If he behaves himself and comes and plays for us as he is able to then he will be a great asset.”

QPR are sitting at rock bottom in the Premier League table and with the purchase of two marquee names Redknapp will not only be hoping to stop the rot but expects the stars to carry the team out of the mire at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Ligue 1 club Stade Rennes president Frederic de Saint-Sernin has claimed that other clubs have registered their interest for the midfielder.

de Saint-Sernin told France 2:

“We are in negotiations with QPR, but since yesterday (Tuesday), other clubs have made requests.”

“There are clubs from the former Soviet Union and England too. We will resume discussions tomorrow.”

It is understood that Everton is the unknown English club who are trying to lure Yann M’Vila to join the Merseyside club though lack of funds for David Moyes could be a big hindrance in hijacking the deal from QPR’s nose.

While Rennes value the player at £10 million, Everton are hoping to bring the player on loan with an intention of making the deal permanent next season.
