Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan wants to join the Premier League giants Manchester United, his agent has confirmed.
Speaking to the media, his agent Mino Raiola claimed that Manchester United is an unique opportunity and that he should join Jose Mourinho’s side quickly.
The Dortmund star has 12 months left on his current contract and the club director, Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed that the player has refused to sign a new deal.
It appears that Dortmund will hold on to him and then let him leave the club on a free transfer next season. After the sales of Gundogan and Hummels, the German side are unwilling to lose any more key players.
Raiola has used the media to hit back at Dortmund for not letting his client leave this summer. He said: “Manchester United is a unique opportunity. He (Henrikh Mkhitaryan) should quickly want to go there”.
“The Dortmund bosses fear their own fans, and have told Mkhitaryan he should leave on a free next summer. That is very bad management. He does not understand that Dortmund can sell their captain Mats Hummels to arch rivals Bayern, but Mkhitaryan must remain”, he added.
Mkhitaryan is a target for Chelsea and Arsenal as well.
In other news, Chelsea winger Pedro is angling for a move away from Stamford Bridge.
The Spanish international signed for the Blues last summer and is already looking to return to Barcelona.
The 28 year old started 30 games for Chelsea and scored 8 times last season.
Speaking to the media, Pedro confirmed that he has already held transfer talks with the Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu.
He said: “Hopefully (I can return to Barcelona) but I know it’s hard. I have already spoken about it with the president when we (Barcelona) were in the (Cup) final (when Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-0 last month) and spoke to all the people who want me there.”
It will be interesting to see how Chelsea and Antonio Conte react to this. It is evident that the player has made his mind up and is openly voicing his desire to leave the club.
Chelsea 22 million pounds for him last summer and if they were to get rid of him now, they would have to accept a major loss in terms of transfer fee.
