Rangers set to sign Jon Flanagan on a free transfer

Oct 19, 2024 7:45 PM

Rangers are hoping to sign the former Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has been released from his contract at Anfield and he had a medical with the Scottish giants earlier today.

STV reported earlier today that the player has already held talks with Rangers and he is set to reunite with Steven Gerrard at the Ibrox stadium.

Flanagan has played with Gerrard at Liverpool in the past and the new Rangers boss will know all about the right back.

The 25-year-old could be a useful option for Rangers, especially on a free transfer.

Flanagan was never good enough to start for a club like Liverpool, but he has the talent to succeed in Scottish football.

It will be interesting to see whether he can regain his confidence and fitness now.

Flanagan picked up a few knee injuries during his time in Merseyside and he will need to pass a rigorous medical test with Rangers before joining up with his new teammates in Spain.

Rangers are currently holding their pre-season training camp in Spain.
