Real Madrid agree deal to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata

Real Madrid agree deal to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata

Nov 14, 2024 12:31 PM

European champions Real Madrid have exercised their right to buy back the Spanish international striker Alvaro Morata this summer.

Los Blancos sold the young striker to Juventus in the summer of 2014, but a clause in his contract allows them to re-sign him for a fee of 23 million pounds.

Real Madrid have confirmed the deal on their official website. The Spanish striker will join up with Zinedine Zidane’s squad after the Euros.

The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in the player and it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid decide to sell him once again for a hefty profit this summer. It was also reported that the player preferred a move to Manchester United in order to work with Jose Mourinho.

Morata is at that stage of his career where he needs to play regularly in order to fulfill his potential and with Benzema already at the club, it might be difficult for him to get a look in at Santiago Bernabeu.

Juventus chief executive Marotta confirmed the move earlier today.

He said: ‘Real Madrid have informed us of their intention to exercise the right to buy back [Morata], we are just waiting for a written offer,’ Marotta said.

‘He will leave Turin and return to Spain.’

Morata will now join Real Madrid for the pre-season once the Euro 2016 is over. The Spaniard has had a good start to the tournament so far and has scored twice already.
