Reports have emerged from Spain that Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale is finally set to sign for Real Madrid.

The Premier League side’s sporting director France Baldini travelled to Spain in order to finalise the negotiations, and it’s expected Bale will be announced a Real Madrid player in the coming hours.

Football journalist Guillem Balague confirmed via social networking site Twitter that Gareth Bale’s signing for Madrid was imminent and will be officially confirmed by the morning.

NBC Sport announced the deal to sign the Welsh international included a fee of around €93M and Real Madrid wing-back Fabio Coentrao, but the actual fee is yet to be confirmed by multiple trusted sources.

This summer, Gareth Bale has been increasingly linked with the Spanish side, and his silence on the matter had seemingly confirmed to many it was only a matter of time until he left to join the Champions League semi-finalists.

The deal could still potentially be delayed another day as the side are paying homage to their club hero – Raul. A club spokesman revealed they wouldn’t want to overshadow Raul’s day by announcing the biggest deal of the summer.

A host of supporters for both clubs have taken to Twitter to express their dismay or delight for the news that is currently circulating.

Spurs could be taking their spending up to the £90M mark – should attacking-midfielder Willian join for £30M in the coming days. It would appear chairman Daniel Levy has been spending ‘the Bale transfer money’ in advance to make sure his side can handle the 24-year old’s exit.

With Gareth Bale having remained tight-lipped throughout the summer saga, he’s proven he is very respectful of the situation regarding his departure, and he knows exactly how much Tottenham have helped in his career.

Real Madrid are signing a player cut from the same cloth as their star player Cristiano Ronaldo. Bale scored 31 goals in 52 games for club and country last season, and was named PFA Players’ Player of the Year, Player of the Year, and made the Team of the Year for 2012/13.
