According to reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are seriously considering abandoning their interest to bring Matej Vydra to Elland Road this summer.
The striker’s rise in wage demands has posed problems for Leeds and they could cool their interest in signing the Derby County striker.
Vydra is a very good player and was last season’s top goalscorer in the Championship. Leeds were heavily interested in him and the Yorkshire club were even prepared to pay £11 million to bring the 26-year-old to the club.
Leeds were even ready to offer the Derby forward a contract worth in excess of £30k-per-week, which is a very good offer for a Championship player, to make the deal happen. But the player is demanding more money, and as a result Leeds are considering to walk away from the negotiation table.
The Whites badly need to strengthen their attacking options in the summer and failing to sign Vydra would be a blow for the club.
Leeds decided against pursuing a deal to sign German Pierre-Michel Lasogga when his loan from Hamburg finished in May, while an offer to sign free agent Abel Hernandez has gone cold due to the cost of the forward’s financial package.
