Antoine Griezmann, the dazzling French winger from Real Sociedad, has been on Premier League clubs’ radar for some time now. Arsenal are thought to be heavily interested in him with manager Arsene Wenger himself told Telefoot last March that the Gunners had been “following Antoine Griezmann for a long time”.
During last January transfer window, Spanish journalist Alfredo Duro, claimed on Spanish TV show ‘El Chiringuito’ that Arsenal had made an official bid to lure the highly-rated winger.
The player, who has been one of the key members of this Real Sociedad side, himself flirted few times with transfer rumours claimed:
“PSG, Juventus, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad. I do not know where I will be celebrating my 24th birthday.”
Catalan newspaper Sport reports today that Monaco are looking to sign Griezmann, as a replacement for James Rodriguez, should the Colombian join Real Madrid in the summer.
In that article, they mention Liverpool and Chelsea are showing an interest too, but Sociedad won’t sell their star player, unless his €30m buy-out clause is met.
Liverpool will be looking to sign top quality players with the huge chunk of money received from selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona and may fancy their chance in Griezmann, who undoubtedly would bring abundance of quality to the side.
It remains to be seen, whether Liverpool at all make any move for the Frenchman, having already signed Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana – both are attacking players.
