Ronaldinho joined Barcelona in 2003 after spending two seasons in the French outfit Paris Saint-Germain. In 2008, after winning the Champions League, La Liga twice, Spanish Super Cup, Golden Ball and the FIFA World Player of the Year twice, he moved on to AC Milan.

He made his return to the Camp Nou on 25th August, 2010, two years after his departure, for the Joan Gamper Trophy. His recieved a huge welcome from the club and the fans. He was even invited by Carles Puyol to join the Barca team for the pre-match photo.

He was unable to recieve the farewell when he left Barcelona but the fans made up for every bit of it on his first ever reappearance.

The moment he stepped on the field to warm-up, the fans gave him a warm welcome and began to sing his name. In the 76th minute of the game, Ronaldinho was substituted and Camp Nou rose to their feet to give him a huge cheer.

When walking off, he lifted his Milan shirt to reveal a t-shirt with the message written across the front: “Barca I love you”.

Later he said:

“I just wanted to thank people and Barca. What I wrote on the shirt is true, I do love Barca.”

He further added:

“The homage they paid is normally reserved for players who are no longer alive. They have done it for me in person and it has truly touched me. I had the chance to play with great player and that helped me do what I did and to start such a great era for Barça.”
