Stoke vs Chelsea: Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Up & Prediction

Dec 14, 2024 7:38 AM

Chelsea will take on Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday at the Britannia Stadium, where Blues manager Jose Mourinho would be looking for nothing less than full three points.

MataMata

The Blues kept up the pace on Premier League toppers Arsenal, with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Sunderland in the last match and would be eager to pick up maximum points against Stoke, who have never beaten Chelsea at home since they returned to Premier League.

Stoke City have never beaten Chelsea in the league since 1975 while the Blues have won 10 of their last 12 matches against them in all competitions.

After Stoke were humiliated 4-0 by Everton last weekend, they earned a good 0-0 draw against Cardiff City in the midweek, but it is hard to see them getting a point against in-form Chelsea, even at home. The Blues are 8/13 with Ladbrokes to win the match on Saturday.

Team News:

Stoke City’s defender Erik Pieters is suffering from a groin problem and is a major doubt for this tie and in his place Marc Muniesa could deputise.

Brazilian centre-back David Luiz has been ruled out with a knee injury while fellow countryman Oscar has recovered from an ankle knock but may not figure. Striker Samuel Eto’o is fit again after missing two games with a groin problem.

Chelsea Likely Line-up:

Prediction: 1-3 – Another win for the Blues is the most likely outcome here; but with a currently shaky defence, I expect Stoke to scrape at least one goal.
