Tottenham Hotspur staged a stunning comeback to down league leaders Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane in a highly entertaining start to the weekend round of the Premier League matches. City went ahead inside the first half hour through a Kevin De Bruyne goal on the break, but Spurs equalised on the stroke of half time via a controversial goal from Eric Dier.
Dier found the target from range as City players switched off anticipating an offside call from the linesman which never came, and the home side then turned on the style in the second half with goals from Toby Alderweireld, Harry Kane and Erik Lamela. Kane broke his duck for the season with another contentious goal, but the result was just deserts for a spirited performance from a youthful Tottenham side.
