Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed their star midfielder Dele Alli has committed his future to the north London club by signing a new contract on Tuesday. The Englishman’s latest deal will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2021.

A statement on Tottenham’s official website read, “We are delighted to announce that Dele Alli has signed a new contract with the Club which will run until 2021.”

The 19-year-old joined the north London club on a five-and-a-half-year deal from MK Dons on 2 February 2015. Just after joining Tottenham, he returned to his former club on-loan until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Alli joined his new teammates in the summer and the teenager has been a regular inclusion in the starting lineup for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. He has made 18 appearances for Tottenham in the league, where he scored five goals and registered three assists.

His club form has seen him earn a place in the national side as he got his England first team start against France in November 2015. He went on to score one goal as the Three Lions registered a 2-0 victory at Wembley.

Alli has expressed his delight after he signed a new deal. He also went on to hail the young squad at Tottenham and heaped praise on the former Southampton boss for his development so far at the club.

“I’m delighted. The club has been really great to me since I arrived. We have a great young team and I can only see us moving forward. I am really happy to be here,” Alli explained, as reported by Sky Sports.

“When I signed here I wanted to play for Tottenham and I was not thinking about going anywhere else at the time. The manager and everyone have helped me a lot and thankfully I have broken in and got a few games.”

“I have shown a lot of people what I can do and established myself as a Premier League player but I am 19 and I have still got a lot to learn. I can’t think of a better place at the minute to do that.”
