Tottenham’s Harry Redknapp Named Manager Of The Year

Tottenham’s Harry Redknapp Named Manager Of The Year

Dec 18, 2024 7:23 PM

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has been named ‘Barclays Manager of the Season’ just two days after seeing his side qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Speaking to Spurs’ official website, Redknapp said;

“I’m delighted to receive the award but it’s a team effort with Kevin (Bond), Joe (Jordan), Clive (Allen), Tony (Parks), Tim (Sherwood), Les (Ferdinand) and all the coaching and fitness staff.

Really, I’m just part of the team. It’s all down to the players and what they’ve achieved. It’s down to them really and a real honour to receive it.”

It was widely assumed that Roy Hodgson would receive the award after Fulham’s herculean efforts in the Europa League this season but, as the award has it’s emphasis upon league performance, it is the Spurs boss who has received the accolade.

The 63-year-old becomes only the second manager since the formation of the Premier League to be bestowed with the award without actually winning the league title, after George Burley took the prize for guiding Ipswich Town to fifth place in 2000/01.

Redknapp’s season could yet finish on an even more positive note as, if his side beat Burnley on Sunday and Arsenal lose at home to Fulham, Spurs will rise above their bitter north London rivals to finish the season in third position.
