Transfer roundup: Man United to land world-class star, Chelsea to offload big name?

Nov 25, 2024 9:28 PM

Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all firmly in the transfer gossips columns this Sunday, with the European press suggesting that the heavyweight Premier League trio are closing in on January deals.

The Red Devils have been linked with a world-class attacker that Louis van Gaal knows well, while another new Bundesliga midfielder has been touted as the solution to the Gunners’ midfield woes.

Finally, Jose Mourinho seems ready to offload one of his big-name players in the new year after a failure to bed-in at Stamford Bridge.

Man United chase Arjen Robben

With the Old Trafford side seemingly set to sign a new winger in the January window, The Mirror claim that Louis van Gaal wants a reunion with Dutch star Arjen Robben.

United are reportedly ready to capitalise, with the Red Devils eager to lure the former Chelsea winger to the club in the new year.

Robben scored twice for the Netherlands against Wales in a recent international friendly and despite his age must still be classed as one of the best wingers in the world game.

Falcao to be sent back to Monaco

Chelsea’s woes in attack this season have been there for all to see, with ESPN claiming that one of the misfiring stars, Radamel Falcao, will be offloaded in January.

The report suggests that the reigning Premier League champions want to freshen up their striking options in the new year by sending Falcao back to parent club Monaco and looking to the transfer market for a fresh face.

Valencia’s Paco Alcacer and Bayer Leverkusen’s Javier Hernandez are two of the names mentioned as possible successors.

Arsenal close in on Xhaka

Finally, Metro claim that Arsenal have been heavily scouting Borussia Monchengladbach enforcer Granit Xhaka and have been convinced to make a move for him once the window reopens.

The Gunners have been linked with countless midfielders to add steel to the core of their team, with Xhaka seemingly fitting the bill for the North London side.
