According to reports from The Mirror (transfer live blog, July 5, 18:27 pm), West Bromwich Albion are trying to sign Swansea City’s centre-back Kyle Bartley in the summer transfer window.
The Baggies are desperate for defensive reinforcement and are keen to sign the £4million-rated centre-back.
With Jonny Evans leaving the club, and the futures of Craig Dawson (who has slapped in a transfer request) and Ahmed Hegazi in serious doubt, West Brom are looking at new faces to rebuild the squad.
The 27-year-old is under contract at Swansea till 2021, but there is a strong interest in him from clubs like Leeds and Birmingham.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported back in April that Leeds were planning to make a move for Bartley, and he is a player that the large majority of the Leeds supporters would love to see back at Elland Road where he enjoyed a superb loan spell.
Not only is he a good defender but this is a kind of signing that can lift the team, and unite the fans again that has been missing for a while. He would be a cracking signing for the team, and at £4m-5m Leeds must do everything to sign him this summer.
