What They Said: Welbeck claims Man Utd “not good enough”, Messi wants to end his career at Barcelona

Manchester United have started the New Year with three consecutive defeats, their worst start in 13 years and there is a genuine concern that the Red Devils might miss out on top four this season.

The reigning Champions are currently occupying the 7th place in the league, five points off fourth spot and quite naturally the pressure is mounting on the shoulders of new manager David Moyes.

Man United lost 2-1 at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on the New Years’ Day. It was followed by successive cup defeats at the hands of Swansea City and Sunderland in the FA Cup and Capital One Cup respectively.

Striker Danny Welbeck feels that the squad needs to bounce back quickly and get some points under their belt, starting with a victory against Swansea City.

The England striker, who has been in good form recently, scoring seven goals so far, said as quoted in The Mirror:

“I can understand why the fans are concerned. We’re not around the Champions League spots at the moment. We need to get our form back and just win the next matches.

“Losing three on the bounce is really not good enough and we want to put that right. I can’t pinpoint one thing why this is happening. We were champions last season and we know that the consistency in our game has not been good enough.”

Meanwhile Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is back, and back with a bang. The Argentine magician missed a large part of action due to injury and returned to Argentina for rehabilitation.

He returned to football action yesterday against Getafe and didn’t take much time to make an instant impact. He played for around 30 minutes and scored a brace as the Catalan giants won the match comfortably by 4-0.

At the end of the match, when asked about his future, he replied: “my intention is to retire at the club and play the entire career if people want me.”
