Manchester United forward Wilfried Zaha has recently admitted he doesn’t want to be loaned out of Old Trafford for the upcoming 2013/14 campaign.
The 20-year old signed for the Premier League champions during the January transfer window last season, but was loaned straight back to Crystal Palace as per the agreement.
He’s featured in a number of Manchester United’s pre-season friendlies, and recently scored his first goal for the side. Zaha is now looking forward to getting the new season underway.
‘My own target for my first season in Manchester is to be able to get minutes. I don’t want to go out on loan or anything. I just want to play when I get the chance. There are bigger players than me here, so getting minutes will just do me fine.’
Wilfried Zaha has Luis Nani, Antonio Valencia, and Ashley Young as his direct competition for a starting place in the side, but is still convinced he can prove himself given the chance.
Nani has been frequently linked to a potential move to newly-promoted Ligue One side AS Monaco, and is said to have been given permission to talk to the French club.
His departure would better Zaha’s chances for featuring in a few more games for United, but no official word of him leaving has been made from either camp.
A number of Manchester United players have been complimentary towards Zaha, and regard him as a hot prospect for the future. Ashley Young has already revealed his delight for the 20-year old’s inclusion this summer, and is relishing the competition he will pose for a starting place.
The England international could offer United a different dimension next season. Manager David Moyes has made it clear he wants to keep him around the first-team so he should get to showcase exactly what he can offer.
