Jose Mourinho thinks Portugal defender Pepe may not have been deserving of a straight red in Germany rout

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that the red card issued to Portugal defender Pepe may not have been the right decision, but that the Real Madrid man should buck up his ideas, with his behavior not at the right level.

Pepe was given his marching orders in the first half after with Germany striker Thomas Muller, with the 31-year-old aggressively squaring up to the young Bayern Munich man after his frustrations got the better of him.

“Maybe he doesn’t deserve a direct red card but because, in spite of not being a clear aggression, there is a body language that many, many times pushes the referees to have these kind of decisions,” Mourinho told Yahoo,

“To leave a team playing with ten men for such a long time is obviously a big handicap for the team. The fact that is not even a Portuguese man, I think that should put even more pressure on him to behave in a certain way, which he didn’t.”
